Fire Risk Assessment Training

Aimed At:

This training program is aimed at companies who have designated key staff to take responsibility for carrying out fire risk assessments at their place of work.

Aims:

The aim of this training is to develop the candidate’s knowledge and abilities in the field of Fire Risk Assessment. They will be able to interpret and apply the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in their own working environments.

Once the training has been concluded, delegates will be able to develop adequate assessments and will have access to supporting information to assist them.


Duration: 

2-4 days (Day 4 would allow trainer to return after reviewing Assessment to discuss with delegates) or (assessment could be taken away on Day 3, marked at our establishment and returned by post with written comments. (Certain case studies may not then be given)

Course Content: 

  1. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  2. Fire Safety Responsibilities
  3. Introduction to Practical Fire Risk Assessments, 5 Step Approach & PAS 79
 
  • Identification of the Fire Hazards
  • Identifying Persons at Risk
  • Evaluation of the Risks (Eliminate, Reduce or Control)
  • Recording of the Significant Findings
  • Monitor and Review Process
  • Introduction to Fire Risk Assessment Form (use of company's own or one will be provided)
  • Syndicate Desktop exercise:
    • Theoretical Application of Risk Assessment.
  • Exercise Debrief.
  • Individual Practical Exercise:
    • Practical Application of Risk Assessment.
    • (To count towards final assessment.)
  • Exercise Debrief.
  • Case Study. Rose Park Nursing Home, Glasgow.
  • The need for formal Record Keeping, Fire Log Book, Extinguisher & Electrical Testing, Training log
  • Case Study. Rose Park Nursing Home, Glasgow.
  • Review of Assessments, comments and marking.
  • Extra tuition in Fire Awareness Training to Complement Fire Risk Assessment if required.
  • Further Training Needs if required.
